I took a trip to California with my daughter as an early 16th birthday present. We flew into San Diego last week and stayed at a cute little cottage in Carlsbad. Our main plan was to drive up the coast and check out Mavericks because that is my daughters favorite movie and she wanted to see the wave for herself.
We left early on Saturday morning and made a pit stop in Venice Beach for breakfast which was a very cool place and we could have easily spent the whole day there people watching.
We made a pit stop at Ragged point on the way home so that Hudson could make a new friend.
Two California Burritos, please.
Could not have had a better road trip with my best girl and cannot wait to get back out to California.
Maya Angelou // "We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty."
Shel Silverstein // There is a voice inside of you That whispers all day long, "I feel this is right for me, I know that this is wrong."No teacher, preacher, parent, friend or wise man can decide What’s right for you..... just listen to the voice that speaks inside.
John Steinbeck // "If it is right, it happens. The main thing is not to hurry. Nothing good gets away."
Henry Miller // "What I want is to open up. I want to know what's inside me. I want everybody to open up. I'm like an imbecile with a can opener in his hand, wondering where to begin...to open up the earth. I know that underneath the mess everything is marvelous. I'm sure of it."
Walt Disney // “That’s the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up. “
Anais Nin // "You live...sheltered, in a delicate world, and you believe you are living. Then you read a book…or you take a trip…and you discover that you are not living, that you are hibernating. The symptoms of hibernating are easily detectable: first, restlessness. The second symptom (when hibernating becomes dangerous and might degenerate into death): absence of pleasure... Monotony, boredom, death. Millions live like this...without knowing it. They work in offices. They drive a car. They picnic with their families. They raise children. And then some shock treatment takes place, a person, a book, a song, and it awakens them and saves them from death
Frida Kahlo // "Nothing is absolute. Everything changes, everything moves, everything revolves, everything flies and goes away."
Alberto Giacometti // “The more you fail, the more you succeed. It is only when everything is lost...and instead of giving up...you go on, that you experience the momentary prospect of some slight progress. Suddenly you have the feeling...that something new has opened up.”

Hugh Laurie // "It's a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you're ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any."
Bob Dylan // "Boy, I hurried... I hurried for a long time. I'm sorry I did. All the time you're hurrying, you're not really as aware as you should be. You're trying to make things happen instead of just letting it happen. You follow me?"

Oscar Wilde // "A morning sky, a particular perfume that you had once loved and that brings subtle memories with it, a line from a forgotten poem that you had come across again... I tell you, that it is on things like these that our lives depend."
Willem Dafoe // "There's a real wisdom to not saying a thing."
